Maria do Rosário Oliveira Martins is currently Full Professor and former Deputy Director of the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, New University of Lisbon (IHMT-UNL), which is also coordinator of the Post-Graduate Studies in Statistics Applied to Health and exercised, February 2010 to October 2012, vice-President of the Scientific Council. Member of the General Council of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL) since 2009, the Ethics Commissioner for Research Clinica (CEIC) since 2011 and member of the Advisory Scientific Partnership Committee between Europe and Developing Countries for the Implementation of Clinical trials (ECDTP) since January 2014. She is a consultant of the World Health Organization, Office of the African Region since 2009. He is a member of the Doctoral Program in Public Health Direction Global, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology.

It was Mission Unit President for eLearning UNL for two years and Pro-Rector of the UNL May 2004 to January 2007, performing functions in the area of eLearning and Education Lifelong. He was a member of the Statistical Council in 2007 and 2008 and Vice-Director and Chairman of ISEGI-UNL Pedagogical Council from September 2000 to January 2010. He was also Director of the Degree in Statistics and Information Management for 6 years.

It is a PhD in Econometrics from the Free University of Brussels, and MSc in Econometrics from the same university. He was a member of the Statistical Council in 2007 and 2008. In addition to the functions performed in ISEGI and IHMT, was for six years Researcher at ECARES (European Center for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics).

Simultaneously to his academic activities, has coordinated several projects under the Science and Technology, the European Community and the FLAD-NIH Foundation and is also a consultant to institutions such as the INE, the ACSS and the Medical and Rehabilitation Center Alcoitão. It is four books author in the area of Statistics and about 50 articles published in books and national and international scientific journals.

It is a consultant at the University of Cape Verde to the area of Statistics, where he was responsible for the creation of the Degree in Statistics and Information Management. She contributes regularly to the UniZambeze and the UniLurio in Mozambique. It is responsible for several statistics courses for INS-MOH in Mozambique. And a member of several networks of which highlights the network CPLP RIDES-Malaria. In addition to teaching in the Bachelor courses, Master and Doctorate of ISEGI and IHMT, was responsible for the discipline of Quantitative Methods Master’s Program in Public Policy and Administration that UNL offered in collaboration with Columbia University. Maria do Rosário Oliveira Martins regularly participates in several national and international scientific conferences.
